SOMEONEELSE [aka ‘The Gap’] is a collage of two narratives, H.G. Wells’ “The Red Room” and Schnitzler’s “Miss Else”. Their protagonists enter the orphaned place of entirely subjective intermediate worlds. The only source of light is their imagination. It is also easily flammable. At times, it even burns brighter and faster than one might like.
The Gap was a conceptual precursor of ‘Else’. The focus on aesthetic questions has now taken a back seat to the narrative. In that earlier stage of the project, the emphasis was on a more abstract experimental arrangement that seeks to explore the phenomenon of presence perception… The blind spot of the performative installation leads the viewer’s senses astray in the media and decouples them from physical certainties.
